She enters
The first interview. The first formal table. The first journey away from home. The first room in which she is uncertain whether she belongs.

The House of Susie Barber™ · Established 1995
A private house for the journey—from the first room she enters alone to the rooms she one day opens for others.
Founder-led etiquette education, private engagements, membership and gracious service for clients, families, professionals and organisations worldwide.
True etiquette is simply love in action.
The House Philosophy
The House exists to preserve the small acts that change the atmosphere of a life: remembering a name, understanding another culture before entering it, setting a table because someone is coming home, noticing the person who is unsure where to stand, and making another human being feel that they belong.
Etiquette, at its highest level, is the practice of care.

The Private Member House
The finishing school that remains with you after the course ends—gathering your learning, Society relationship, distinctions, private conversations, invitations and Private Office requests in one secure place.
It is designed to remember the journey without placing private information on public display. The operational Founder Office remains separate, restricted and invisible to ordinary visitors.
Private guides, essays, videos and practical resources, searchable when they are needed.
Moderated member discussion, private correspondence and a professional code of conduct.
Considered briefs for gifts, hosting, hospitality, travel, wardrobe and important occasions.
Academy progress, Society status, distinctions, invitations and private requests held together.
The Journey
The House accompanies her from uncertainty to confidence, from being welcomed to becoming the woman who welcomes others.
The first interview. The first formal table. The first journey away from home. The first room in which she is uncertain whether she belongs.
Knowledge settles into confidence. Confidence becomes character. She learns that elegance is not what she wears, but the effect her presence has upon others.
One day, she is no longer waiting for somebody else to make the room feel safe. She opens the door, makes the introduction and creates the welcome for another person.
The Academy
Not rules for display. Knowledge that settles into confidence and becomes part of how she lives.

For significant gifts, international guests, private occasions, hospitality, travel, wardrobe and the moments in which meaning matters as much as the object itself. The House researches, curates, presents and coordinates—returning judgement, privacy and time to the client.
Beautiful. Useful. Meaningful. Or difficult to experience ordinarily.
The recipient, occasion, meaning, budget, timing and what must never be suggested.
Official brands, authorised retailers, established makers and credible private service providers.
A short House selection, chosen for relevance and provenance rather than quantity.
Quotation, payment, personalisation, presentation, tracking and discreet follow-through.

The Founder · Tauranga · 1995
Susie Barber has spent more than three decades teaching the confidence, judgement and social intelligence that allow people to move through important rooms without losing their humanity.
Established in Tauranga in 1995, Susie B Finishing School has developed through New Zealand, Melbourne and international work across private education, leadership, pageantry, luxury hospitality, media and cultural etiquette.
Tradition meets modern social intelligence in every programme. The House is held to the Susie Barber standard of dignity, discretion, courage and the disciplined art of making another person feel seen, respected and understood.
“True etiquette is simply love in action.”

From the Journal · 12 August 2026
Executive presence is often mistaken for charisma or polish. In practice, it is the consistency between how a person communicates, decides, listens and carries responsibility when the room becomes difficult.
